Ian Fontova’s works fuse Celtic melodies with a variety of other genres, such as Epic, Funk, Electronic or Post-Rock.
Folk & Mutiny is an Acoustic Folk Punk album made of covers from bands that I love.
For the last years, I’ve been more and more into Folk Punk. I often discover a song that I like and spend some days singing it with the guitar. After Tales of Olden, Vol. 2, which included videos that took me many months to make, I felt like I needed a project with less commitment that was simply fun to work on. The Folk Punk cover album idea came to me in a sleepless night and was just what I needed!
For the second volume of Tales of Olden, I worked in more elaborated animation videos. This project was a great learning experience for me, specially in 3D environment design and 2D illustration.
Following with the Epic Celtic Fantasy vibe from the previous volume, this album is a journey through dark woods that are a haven to lost souls, floating mountains with dancing rocks around, the ancient trails of the giants, and pagan rituals around a bonfire at night.

Children of the Moon is part of Tales of Olden, Vol. 2. It took me almost one year to complete between music and video!
This has become the most viewed video on my channel, with many people sharing their experiences in the comments section regarding abuse, which is the main topic of the story. I’m so honored that they felt this was a safe space to have this kind of conversations, and I wish justice and healing for all abuse victims.

Crimson Saga is a collaborative project I worked on together with Antti Martikainen for his music label Omniscore . The idea was to make a Viking Music themed album that other artists could license and use for their video games, films or any kind of project.
We first gathered a bunch of great sources of inspiration like Wardruna, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Original Soundtrack, amongst others. Then I created the original acoustic versions using a variety of Folk traditional instruments such as Tagelharpa, Rebec or Lyre. Finally, Antti remixed those, adding his usual Epic top quality orchestrations.
